I really liked my time spent on site. We were working on a wastewater treatment plant and I was able to apply a lot of what I learned in previous school courses.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had known more about matlab and some of the soft skills that went into managing a construction schedule. I understood how most things worked from a theoretical stand point but in practice there was a lot that I had to rapidly adapt to.
Advice
As far as scheduling is concerned, be honest with expected arrival times. If you absolutely need something by a certain date then that needs to be conveyed to the provider of that good/service and they must understand the importance of adhering to your requests. For this reason, building relationships with such providers is crucial to the successful completion of any project.
