Student worker

What I liked

Working in the cotton breeding program here at auburn gave me a unique experience I never thought I would have. Working under Dr. Jenny Koebernick, I had the opportunity to learn several hands on skills that not only apply to cotton and soybeans, but genetics as a whole.

Student Worker for Human Resources

May - August 2018 • Auburn, AL

What I liked

This job was very insightful for the human resources branch of a business. I got hands-on experience with employee tax files, court orders, and insurance paperwork. This experience helped me to quickly be able to discern between different genres of paperwork based on information stated at the top of the document

What I wish was different

The only critique I have of the position is that it was a temporary position. This job was great experience for my future in business, so I wish the job would've carried on past the summer.

Advice

Push through your required hours in the beginning of the week so you can have the rest of the week to either work extra hours or take off.

Research assistant

June - August 2018 • Auburn, AL

What I liked

It was a great chance to be independent with my work and really lead a project.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been a bit more guidance in the beginning of research. The question began very open ended.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. A lot of research is finding out what doesn’t work before finding out what does. Don’t be discouraged.
