Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Summer Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will work closely with our engineering team to support continuous improvement initiatives and lead smaller scale manufacturing projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Kaizen events to drive productivity, efficiency, and quality improvements.
- Conduct time studies, process mapping, and data analysis to identify root causes of inefficiencies and develop actionable solutions.
- Design and implement visual management tools, standard work instructions, and process controls to sustain improvements.
- Lead smaller scale manufacturing projects from concept to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management.
- Utilize Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance overall operational performance.
- Actively participate in team meetings, present findings, and provide regular updates on project status and key performance indicators.
- Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in all activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Previous experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally
Duration
This is a paid internship position lasting a minimum of 12 weeks.
Location
The internship will be based at our Dadeville, AL facility, with potential opportunities for remote work depending on project requirements.
