Continuous Improvement Engineer

SUMMARY

PlayCore is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer that will be responsible for driving improvements in all areas of Manufacturing, Quality, Shipping & Receiving and Maintenance for the Chatsworth facility.  The position will be responsible for training in the fundamentals of lean manufacturing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and establish lean manufacturing methods working with the Director of Operations and the corporate Operations group.
  2. Implement the continuous improvement strategy that aligns to the with the overall business strategy
  3. Develop dashboards / score cards for the manufacturing operation working with the shop floor supervision.
  4. Assist in monitoring department, process and employees to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, ability to create operation KPIs or scorecards, safety policies and procedures.
  5. Identify and drive changes to improve productivity and reduce cost, under the guidance of the plant staff.
  6. Develop, implement and track TPM program
  7. Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Industrial, Operations Management, or Engineering BS degree, completed or in progress
  • Limited practical experience in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and processes is preferred
  • Will have a thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

10% or less for development and benchmarking only

 

OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to learn in a technical role in a manufacturing environment.  The role will be more than 50% hands-on working with shop floor employees
  • Ideal candidate will be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently and has the ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost and employee morale.
  • Must have strong technical skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
