Job Title: Medical Assistant (Pre-Med / Pre-PA)

Location: 516 Brookwood Boulevard. Birmingham, AL 35209

Type: Full-Time, Temporary (May 2025 - Summer 2026)

We are seeking a hardworking, motivated, and eager-to-learn Medical Assistant to support our clinic in both clinical and administrative operations. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in patient care, medical procedures, and the business side of running a healthcare practice. In this clinic you will be wearing a lot of “hats”, so if you are a go-getter that is eager to gain as much experience as possible, all of the opportunities to do so are right here at Southern Orthopaedic Specialists P.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with in-office procedures, including utilizing ultrasound technique (no prior experience needed).
  • Master and utilize x-ray technique to provide crucial images for Dr. Carr (no prior experience needed).
  • Triage patients, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Transition between clinical duties and administrative responsibilities, including learning about insurance processes and how a medical practice operates on the business side.
  • Support day-to-day clinic operations and patient care as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Pre-Med or Pre-PA track students only
  • Must be able to work from May 2025 through the summer of 2026, contingent upon acceptance into your professional program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 required.
  • Strong work ethic with a proactive attitude.
  • Motivated, fast-paced learner with the ability to adapt quickly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure in a busy clinic environment.
