Position Title: Test Engineering Development Co-Op

These are two very important questions every Engineering student should ask themselves as they determine their passions and what drives them. SCI’s Test Development Group Co-Op program is geared to help you grow and develop skills in creating, analyzing, optimizing, building and evaluating your designs. We hope that our Co-Op program enables you to establish and refine the answers to these questions through real-world Engineering experience as you become a more well-rounded and versatile engineer!

Based in Huntsville, AL, SCI Technology’s Test Development Engineering Group, with a fast-paced start-up atmosphere plus the stability and resources of a Fortune-500 company, is seeking highly creative Co-Op candidates in Electrical/Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics Concentration) to join our team and shape future products. Working with technology partners, we rapidly develop new product test solutions for a wide range of defense, aerospace, and commercial markets. 

The successful candidates will be involved in a wide range of the test solution development for leading-edge products for airborne, land, and/or subsea systems. Depending on the individual’s background and interests, work will involve computer-based design and modeling, and fabrication of new test equipment designs of electronics and/or mechanics. SCI Co-Op students can expect to gain experience utilizing our in-house 3D printing lab, CNC machining centers and machine shop, test fabrication lab, and test development lab.

Altium Circuit Board Design

Gathering & Documenting Test Set Requirements

Test Set Programming utilizing NI LabVIEW & TestStand

Test Set & Fixture Fabrication

Data Acquisition utilizing automated test & measurement equipment

Soldering

Electronics Assembly

Debugging Electronic Circuits

Test Set Documentation utilizing MS Office

Validating Test Platforms

SCI is seeking highly motivated Co-Op candidates to join our team of Electro-mechanical Hardware and Software Test Engineers who help design & develop test equipment and procedures to test mission critical products. As a member of the Test Engineering Development team, you will get the opportunity to develop features and functionality across a broad range of electrical and hardware and software testing systems These test systems ensure fit for purpose and flight worthiness of SCI products on some of the world’s most advanced military and commercial platforms. The successful candidates could be involved in a wide range of the test development activities including: designing electrical PWA’s for test set and fixture integration, designing mechanical test sets and fixtures,  constructing & integrating test software, creating documentation, and test set validation efforts.
