Gap Year Medical Assistant

Our practice is hiring for a 1-2 year opportunity for any aspiring pre-health student who wants to gain work experience while looking to strengthen their resume for graduate school.  Our practice, Cahaba Pain and Spine Care, is looking to hire another 10 to 15 medical assistants that will start between December of 2024 and early August of 2025.  Start dates are flexible.  We are looking specifically for December 2024 or Spring 2025 graduates. 

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, and our clinic's hours of operations are 7:30am to 4:30pm. We do not require previous medical assistant experience, as we will provide the training necessary while on the job. 

We have worked with multiple medical assistants that have worked with us for one or more Gap years after college.  Since our founding in 2017, more than 40 of our medical assistants have left to attend Medical, Physician Assistant, Nursing, and Dental schools.  We have been told by many former employees that their experience working at Cahaba Pain has prepared them well for their introduction to clinical practice courses in graduate school..

As a pain practice that is procedure focused and multimodal, we offer both medication management (including weaning patients off narcotics) as well as ultrasound or fluoroscopically guided injections performed in the office.  Our specialty includes treatment of many neurosurgical and orthopedic patients.  This position includes helping the providers document patient histories and examinations, returning patient phone calls related to imaging and medication, and preparing patients for their procedures.  Any interested students should email our practice manager Steve Harrell at sharrell@cahabapain.com
