Job Summary:

Columbus Engine Center is the largest Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) shop for the Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbo Fan (GTF).  The GTF engine family is the quietest, most efficient, most environmental in its class, delivering the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for single-aisle aircraft.  Columbus Engine Center also houses the Military Engine Center of Excellence which performs MRO activities on a number of military engine models.  With 550,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and an expansion underway, Columbus Engine Center is looking for dedicated individuals to help support and grow our organization. What You Will Do

CO-OP positions are available in a number of engineering disciplines.  Based on company need and candidate interest, department assignments and duties could include:

 

Industrial Engineering:

  • Process Analysis and Improvement
  • Supporting lean projects from inception through implementation
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify a path to increase engine output rates

 

Production/Process Engineering:

  • Prioritize production issues with internal suppliers to align with gated deliveries
  • Seek opportunities to reduce costs and increase quality and efficiency using new materials, processes or technology
  • Identifies and manages risk utilizing lean tools to propose risk management solutions

 

Environmental, Health, & Safety:

  • Conduct review of process user safety assessments for ergonomic improvements
  • Assist the EH&S team with routine and non-routine risk assessments 
  • Participate and lead process improvements centered around safety and ergonomics

 

Quality Engineering:

  • Drive standardization of Quality Management System and ensure quality systems and processes are established, maintained, and improved upon
  • Participate and lead root cause analysis investigations
  • Provide analysis and develop recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities

 

Supply Chain:

  • Assist in local delivery assurance and supplier development, monitoring and escalation of systemic issues
  • Participate and lead projects centered around supply chain management and improvement
  • Assist in identifying capacity need and procurement of capital equipment

 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Enrolled in a degree program at Auburn University studying an Engineering Discipline, Operations Management, Logistics/Supply Chain, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
