Project Engineer Co-Op

At OneSubsea in Mobile, we are at the forefront of manufacturing Subsea Control Umbilicals for the global Offshore Oil & Gas industry. Our umbilicals, crafted from Super Duplex Stainless Steel Tubes, Copper Electrical Cables, and Fiber Optics, cater to a diverse clientele ranging from major, state-owned, to private oil companies. We invite you to join our fast-paced Engineering, Design, & Manufacturing environment as a co-op student, where you will play a pivotal role in our processes.

In this co-op position, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute directly to our engineering outcomes. As you progress in your role, responsibilities similar to those of our junior engineers will be assigned to you based on your skills and performance. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanics of materials, materials science, fluid design, and general engineering principles. You will also interact extensively with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and installation contractors, providing a comprehensive exposure to the engineering field within the Oil & Gas sector.

 

Looking for Co-Op applicants to start Spring 2025.

 

We are looking for students to commit to a full 3 semester (alternating) Co-Op, full time employed rotation.  

 

Housing Stipends are available for students living outside of a 50 mile radius from the site.

Purpose:

  • The project engineer co-op supports activities related to the design and execution of subsea umbilical products.  Providing an opportunity for the co-op to learn engineering and manufacturing career principles.

Essential functions:

  • Complete assigned projects from lead engineers.
  • Convert paper work instructions to digital work instructions.
  • Perform 3D printing & CNC routing requirements for productions pieces, jigs, and templates.
  • Learns application of lean six sigma principles, statistical analysis and other methodologies/techniques to streamline, improve and/or correct processes
  • Supports identification and implementation of solutions to reduce risk of quality defects or HSSE incidents.
  • Supports development of methods, tools, and new designs to support the manufacturing process
  • Provides technical support to the production personnel during project execution.
  • Learns root cause analysis to identify failure or sub-optimal performance causes and determines the appropriate repair or adjustment.
  • Present end of term status/project reports on completed duties. (TBD)
  • Present Senior Design Project sponsorship considerations (optional)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or other related Engineering field.
  • Ability to work independently to develop, collect, interpret, and present data
  • Ability to author work instructions.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and procedures.

Preferred qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Knowledge of AutoCad, SolidWorks, Visio, PowerBI, and/or SAP
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) is a plus.
  • Experience with instrumentation coding is a plus.
  • Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to operate machines and power tools is preferable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
