Design Engineer

POSITION:  Design Engineer

Job Description:

A Design Engineer is responsible for completing the following duties:

• Design and detail custom material handling equipment and components
• Perform design analysis for components
• Create 3D CAD models
• Create detail 2D drawings
• Complete bills of material
• Evaluate and implement design changes
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering or related engineering degree
• Thorough understanding of:
  • Strengths of materials and structural analysis
  • Drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances
  • Mechanical power relationships such as horsepower, torque, speed, ratios
  • Shaft, bearing, and power transmission design and analysis
• Training and/or experience in using 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor

Expectations of Employees:

• Product designs are functional, easily manufactured, and meet customer expectations
• Component design is completed according to schedule
• Designs meet Continental Global Material Handling’s engineering standards
• Design analysis, drawings, and bills of material are accurate
• Use Autodesk Inventor software, ANSYS FEA software, ERP system
• Use Microsoft Office software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to create reports, tables, calculations and presentations
• Work in office setting and visit customer work sites
