Mechanical Engineering Intern (Summer 2025)
JOB SUMMARY
Chalmette Refining is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025. This internship program is targeted towards students currently studying Mechanical Engineering. The program is geared towards completing multiple detailed projects. This intern position is based at PBF Energy’s Chalmette Refining site in Chalmette, Louisiana.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work towards the completion of his or her assigned projects.
- Projects are defined by technical supervisors who will provide high level schedules with expected goals for completion.
- The intern will provide valid recommendations for each project based on real engineering challenges.
- The intern is expected to identify safety, reliability, and environmental concerns and strategically provide recommendations for improvements.
- Interns may also assist with day-to-day operations working alongside a full-time engineer.
- Interns are assigned a mentor who provides coaching and training guidance along with one-on-one time with the supervisor.
- The internship program includes unit tours, safety training, social events, and networking/engagement opportunities with engineers, managers, the refinery leadership team, and other cross-functional team members at the site.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Demonstrated leadership experience preferred
- Must possess technical capability and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
