Position Summary                                                                                                                  

The Manufacturing Co-op Engineer is responsible for the supporting their assigned Manufacturing Engineer with their assigned area including quality, productivity, and on time delivery. The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to elimination of waste in all aspects of manufacturing through combination of engineering training with lean manufacturing principles and a focus on quality to drive waste out of the production system. Works as a member of a team to contribute to continuous improvement activities throughout our facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists in establishing root cause and corrective action plans in response to customer quality concerns. Assist Engineers in implementing resolutions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Assists production teams and Engineers to quickly identify and resolve manufacturing process and product performance issues affecting productivity, First Pass Yield, and On Time Delivery using a fact based, data- oriented approach.
  • Identifies and eliminates barriers to one piece flow as well as manufacturing process bottlenecks affecting productivity and On Time Delivery.
  • Works with both internal &external suppliers to ensure that all materials meet design and quality requirements.
  • Supports cross-functional teams to develop &implement new manufacturing processes in support of new products.
  • Develops, updates and maintains production documentation including standard work and manufacturing process procedures while ensuring that all existing processes and procedures are followed.
  • Supports design with input on manufacturing process capability during the new product development phase.
  • Supports strategies in Operation Excellence as an active participant in continuous improvement projects.
  • Supports production teams in the identification and elimination of potential safety hazards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be an actively enrolled student having completed 2 years of education in a 4 –year minimum technical program at an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative grade point average should meet or exceed a 2.5/4.0 and a semester average of 2.75/4.0 as well.

Physical Demands:

  • Mostly production floor based and requires considerable time standing and walking on the production floor.
  • Required to operate a computer, other office devices, as well as some machinery on the production floor.
  • Occasionally will have to lift and/or transport items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Predominately production floor.
  • While on the production floor,employees may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as safety shoes, and glasses.
  • Some travel required.
