Education:   Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree of Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering program at an accredited university is required.

GPA:      2.8 or above

Job Summary:

Hargrove Controls & Automation is looking for Co-Op students interested in pursuing a career in Controls Engineering in one of our many locations throughout the southeast. The automation industry focuses on designing innovative process controls that create safer and more efficient work environments for everyone. 

Hargrove offers competitive pay starting at $22/hour and provides Co-Op students with real world experience and hands on involvement in client facing projects. Our students will be exposed to multiple industries throughout their time with our company, such as pulp and paper, discrete manufacturing, specialty chemicals, oil and gas, along with many more.

Co-op assignments will be diverse, aiming to help our students develop a variety of important skills that will allow them to succeed both professionally and academically. Our students will be involved in designing graphics that will be utilized by operators working on-site, while also being exposed to light computer coding and the configuration of modules used in control and safety systems. 

Generally responsible for performing increasingly complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. Assignments may be extremely varied and diverse in nature and may include assisting with automation and controls engineering and DCS, PLC, and HMI systems development, depending on project availability. Opportunities may be available for on-site support.

This work will be performed under direct supervision and in a close group of teammates.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·      Working with a team to implement process automation projects on PLC, DCS and SIS platforms, including building I/O and control databases, process logic, and operator graphic displays.

·      Assisting with quality checks and documentation.

·      Working with CAD based drawing software.

·      Assisting with control system panel testing and troubleshooting.

·      Assisting in problem-solving to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.

·      Assisting in producing estimate level preliminary designs.

. Assisting in producing detail design calculations, spreadsheet, reports, drawings, and sketches for various projects.
