Health Equality and Population Health Intern

INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

The purpose of the internship is to afford students the opportunity to gain actual work experience in a public health setting. In addition, students will acquire skills and knowledge useful to their careers and will learn from the interaction with technical experts in their chosen fields. JCDH will in turn receive valuable assistance in the development and implementation of their programs.

Knowledge-Skills:

  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the general public.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to analyze facts, exercise sound judgment, and to arrive at sound conclusions.
  • Ability to use modern office methods, techniques and equipment, and computer skills.

Eligibility:

Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college and have completed their freshman year. (MPH students are highly encouraged to apply) Also, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. 

Internship Position Available: Health Equality and Population Health Intern

Overdose Data to Action is a CDC grant intended to use a data-informed approach to prevent fatal and non-fatal overdoses. The interns on the OD2A team assist with data management and analysis, planning and participating in community events, preparation of naloxone and fentanyl test strips for distribution, social media/web content development and street outreach for overdose prevention and education. They are key members of the JCDH OD2A grant team.
