Urology Centers of Alabama (UCA) Welcome to Urology Centers of Alabama where our team of skilled urologists and urogynecologists is committed to providing our patients with high-quality, personalized medical care in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our physicians specialize in the comprehensive treatment of urological disorders using the most advanced technology available.

For over 70 years, Urology Centers of Alabama has been committed to providing the highest quality medical services in a compassionate and caring environment. With 27 skilled urologists, three urogynecologists, two radiation oncologists, two medical oncologists, one pathologist, a team of physicians’ assistants and nurse practitioners, and over 250 employees the practice has earned a well-deserved reputation for excellence in the Birmingham medical community.

The Urology Centers’ physicians are leading the way in cutting-edge medical procedures such as minimally invasive robotic surgery, endoscopic and laser surgery, and radioactive seed implantation for prostate cancer. The practice also plays an integral role in the field of urology through research studies conducted at the facility. Your Impact:

The UCA Internship Program introduces Interns to medical science solutions, clients, industry, and various teams within our client-facing and clinic organization. You will begin your internship with comprehensive training followed by a program that offers unique opportunities to share new ideas and foster creative thinking to add value to our business. Our program will empower you to make your mark on a leading organization in the field and help develop unique solutions and opportunities. 

What You’ll Do:

Throughout the program, UCA Interns will:

 

  • Participate in clinic shadowing to learn more about different operations and admin teams, client and patient types, and our service model.
  • Add value to UCA by assisting teams with day-to-day clinic activities, projects, diagnostics, pharma administration and strategic initiatives in the health care field.
  • Observe our professionals to experience our experts at work every day to make the world a better place. Helping those in need and delivering exceptional hospitality in everything we do. 
  • Learn about our versatile business-like research, health care management, urology and cutting-edge oncology as well learning activities, mock demos, and leadership interaction.
  • Engage in large-scale independent projects and present your findings to the senior management team at the end of the program.

 

What We’re Looking For:

UCA Interns have a strong interest in medical sciences, biology, healthcare, healthcare administration with patient centric mindset. Having desire to learn, collaborate across teams, be part of a community, that is creating unique and innovative solutions.

Other Experience:            

  • Experience or desire to be patient facing in a support role
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work on teams
  • Proven track record of learning and using new technology
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with Excel skills
  • Students in good academic standing 
  • For U.S. locations, must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
