R&D Internship

Role: R&D internship 

When: Summer 2024

Length: 3 months (May 2024– August 2024)

Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday

Job Type: Full-time, paid internship

Description of R&D summer internship: 

This opportunity will provide exposure to the full cycle of both current & new product development, including design work (SolidWorks), testing, and data analytics while working in a fast-paced cross functional, technologically advanced corporate environment. The 2023 summer interns will support innovative technology development in medical device by researching and developing new methods, processes & manufacturing technologies alongside their R&D mentors and leadership team.

 

Job duties would include:

  • Develop, evaluate and/or improve product designs for both new and current projects under the direct supervision of assigned engineering or management personnel.
  • Assist engineers with various product and process development tasks including testing design and execution, protocol generation, data analysis while following standard good documentation practices. 
  • Work with your assigned team on process efficiency improvements, cost savings and/or technology advancement.
  • Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and analyzing and summarizing findings. 
  • Attend various meetings including leadership team meetings, production meetings, and project management meetings.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be working towards Bachelor of Science in the following engineering disciplines or specialties are preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, and Material Science.
  • Must possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
  • Possess excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well and work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Must be able to analyze information to find opportunities and solutions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum GPA of 3.3 is strongly preferred .
  • The following concentration fields and/or skills are strongly preferred: CAD Design (SolidWorks), Rapid Prototyping, and Machine Shop Experience.
  • Previous experience within the Medical Device industry or biomedical research lab is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work closely with technical and non-technical personnel and have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a dedicated approach to achieving success.
  • A high level of organization and the ability to balance multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to provide their own transportation to this work location.
