Intern & Co-op - Electrical Engineer

New-Indy Ontario, LLC is currently seeking applicants for the position of Electrical Engineer Intern at the paper mill located in Ontario, CA. Individual must be in the process of pursuing higher education in the Electrical Engineer field of study. This is a non-exempt internship position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide E&I project-engineering support to the mechanical project engineers on their projects. • Assist in the attainment of general mill goals by serving on special teams or supplying teams with necessary technical support. • Assist maintenance on an as needed basis to assist in troubleshooting electrical issue • Assist Engineers in preparing formal engineering specifications for equipment or services to upgrade machines. • Assist Engineers in preparing cost estimates and proposals for upgrades to machines. • Communicate effectively with vendors to obtain information about products and services. • Learn how to prepare engineering drawings, computer programs, and other information to upgrade machines. • Effectively coordinates work with other groups within the company. • Learn and apply knowledge of electric power and control systems to specified designs. • Maintains awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in electrical engineering • Learn and apply knowledge in creating, programming or modifying/editing PLC Code, drives and other complex programming • Assist in the designing and applying motors, motor controllers and VSD’s. • Conducts him/herself in a manner consistent with safety for all parties and promotes safe working practices
