What you will do:

Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in York, Pennsylvania. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. The applied equipment sound and vibration engineering team are subject matter experts tasked with supporting product development, sustaining engineering, and applications. The team is responsible for HVAC equipment sound testing and ratings, machine diagnostics, and instrumentation maintenance and calibration. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below. 

How you will do it:  

  • Building on existing test standard, develop a complete process for shaker table endurance testing. Deliverable will be a documented procedure and user guide including mounting procedures, controller settings, and machine maintenance.
  • With help from the Sound and Vibration Engineering Team, provide testing support of chillers and air handling equipment by becoming familiar with AHRI standards, gathering instrumentation, and preparing the test setup.
  • Assist with maintenance of sound and vibration instrumentation; calibration, synchronizing equipment list, and keeping an organized laboratory.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts on existing test procedures and data analysis approach.
  • Participate in the Future Leaders Internship Programming events that include but are not limited to: weekly professional development sessions, 8-week innovation challenge and a self-directed virtual learning journey and special events

Duration: This will be a full-time summer 2023 internship.  

What we look for:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university 
  • Pursuing a degree in engineering or related science
  • Currently a sophomore or higher status 
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred 
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills required 
  • Basic knowledge of sound and vibration
