Antenna Systems Division Student Assistant – Summer 2023 - SEAL

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) is currently seeking students to assist Research Engineers with modeling and simulation, circuit design, and testing. Students should be interested in learning about electromagnetics, RF engineering, high-power microwaves (HPM), radar, and electronic warfare.
Due to the nature of the work at GTRI, job duties will depend upon contract and sponsor needs. Students could participate in the following projects/tasks:
  • Assist with and independently perform RF measurements
  • Program test equipment to automate measurements
  • Produce MATLAB code as directed to perform modeling and simulation of HPM, radar, and electronic warfare systems
  • Perform electromagnetic simulations using HFSS, CST, and/or FEKO
  • Assist with RF, digital, and mixed signal circuit design
  • Document and present research results


REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Student Assistant/Research Assistant
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related Major
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed at least one upper division (300 to 400 level) course in electromagnetics, RF/microwave engineering, or antenna design
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment including Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with the following software: ADS, HFSS, CST, and/or FEKO
  • Ability to perform research independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while working on multiple projects
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Familiarity with Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


HOURS PER WEEK

10–20 hours per week

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.


CLEARANCE TYPE REQUIRED

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
