Transportation Designer 1

JOB DESCRIPTION
A Transportation Designer 1 supports the project’s PM and team through efficient plan production. Must be self-motivated individual that works well independently and in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to make independent design suggestions to engineer of record and feel comfortable coming to ask questions when needed.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
– Proficiency in developing:
• Cover Sheets
• Typical Sections
• Construction Plans & Profiles
• Cross-Sections
• Utility Plans
• Erosion Plans
-A firm understanding of GDOT MicroStation and using GDOT Macros to set up sheets.
-Must be able to quickly grasp GDOT’s Electronic Data Guidelines (EDG) and apply them to producing plans.
-Must be able to quickly grasp GDOT’s Plan Presentation Guidelines (PPG) and apply them to producing plans.
-Ability to read GDOT Construction Standards and Details.
-Ability to use GDOT Pay Items for calculating construction cost estimates.
-Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
-Additional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS
-Four (4) years of related design experience or a Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university and minimum of one (1) years of related design experience.
-Software experience preferred : InRoads, Microstation, OpenRoads, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Schedule, and Excel .
