Student Intern, Financial Reporting (Summer 2023)

POSITION PURPOSE
The External Financial Reporting Student Intern works directly with the SEC reporting group for one of Birmingham’s few publicly traded companies. The intern is responsible for assisting in the preparation of the external financial reports including, but not limited to, Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, Current Reports on Form 8-K, and Quarterly Earnings Release materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Complete all task and assignments accurately and timely
- Gathers and analyzes data from a variety of sources for all external financial reports;
- Assists in the preparation and filing of all external financial reports;
- Assists in compilation of financial data to support all reports/filings;
- Executes internal controls related to the financial reporting process;
- Protects sensitive information; and
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Proactively seeks to learn about the company and the department
- Participates in all intern specific activities (if applicable)
- Create and present presentation on job skills learned (if applicable)
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in a college or university (Junior/Senior level students are preferred)
- Must be seeking and undergraduate degree in accounting
- Class experience in prospective field is preferred
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Interns must be able to work in our Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama from June 5 - August 4, 2023
