Human Resources Intern

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) Human Resources Department seeks a Human Resources Intern with a passion for Human Resources to support the HR team in a mission driven regional planning agency. This is an opportunity to gain valuable paid work experience and exposure to the full cycle of HR activities such as outreach and recruiting related activities, onboarding program development, and HR data management.
 
Under the supervision of the HR Generalist, you will perform varied administrative tasks to support the department's daily activities and onboarding processes. Under the supervision of the HR Manager, you will assist with research and the preparation of HR materials to advance ongoing projects.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
  • Assist HR Generalist with job postings to job boards and other platforms
  • Schedule interviews and organize communications for interviews 
  • Prepare and update new hire onboarding materials 
  • Manage the removal of all job postings from job boards and other platforms once vacancies have been filled
  • Source and research new avenues for recruitment
  • Assist with the coordination of new hire orientation and onboarding
  • Research project work 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Successful candidates for this position should be an undergraduate or graduate student with coursework in Human Resources or a related field, and a genuine interest in human resources
Successful candidates for this position will demonstrate all or most of the following:
  • Strong written and verbal communication and skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to maintain confidentiality, and strong follow-through
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications 
Preferred:
  • Motivated and detail-oriented approach
  • Proven experience working in an office environment

Compensation and Benefits
This is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $17 - $21 per hour, depending on qualifications. We are seeking 20 - 37.5 hours per week with flexibility, depending upon skill level and selected students' availability. To qualify as an intern, individuals must be enrolled in an academic program, provide written verification of their status, and agree to a scheduled end date upon hire. The intern will provide their own laptop or computer for purposes of completing the above work.
