Attosecond Science Postdoc

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) has an opening for an Attosecond Science Postdoc in attosecond science as a collaborative project between Stephen Leone and Daniel Neumark. In this experiment, attosecond four‐wave mixing is used to elucidate the quantum pathways that are accessed by excitation of an atom or molecule with an ultrafast soft x‐ray pulse. 

What You Will Do:
  • Formulate and carry out experiments on attosecond four‐wave mixing.
  • Analyze and publish results.
  • Work closely with other graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and principal investigators.

What is Required:
  • Ph.D. in chemistry or physics required in the general areas of physical chemistry, chemical physics or atomic/molecular physics.
  • Expertise in molecular/chemical physics and ultrafast lasers is highly desirable.
  • Strong track record of scientific accomplishment and initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Notes:
  • This is a full-time, 2 years, postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.
  • This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
  • Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.
