HandsOn VISTA - City of Phoenix Sustainable Transportation

Join the nation’s 5th largest city to help grow and improve civic participation and micro-mobility/electric vehicle literacy. Aid in creating a model for low-carbon transportation solutions and a better quality of life for those disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change! Along with the City of Phoenix Sustainability team the member will partner with community-based organizations to establish community focused listening sessions and work to enhance and expand education and outreach programing to identify low carbon micro-mobility transportation options and increase participation in city planning. You will gain first-hand, real world working knowledge and participation in planning, designing and implementing a community equity focused project. Preferred but not required background: Spanish proficiency; knowledge of, or experience working with, underserved Phoenix populations; knowledge of valley sustainability programs/community.

This is a National Service position as a part of AmeriCorps VISTA program. Members who move over 50 miles qualify for a relocation allowance as well as a settling in allowance. All of our VISTA's receive a modest taxable living allowance of about $1,100/month (before taxes), federal loans qualify for forbearance. After the completion of one's year of service, they also qualify for an educational award valued at about $6,300, which can be used towards federal loans, or further education.
