Job Summary


The Field Engineer is a member of the project operations team. The primary function of the Field Engineer is supporting project staff, Superintendents and Foreman to ensure assigned craftwork is planned, efficient, understood and well documented. A successful Field Engineer will need to interface between craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and members of the project team.

Essential Functions

  • Participate in the Estimate Turnover Meeting. Perform quantity takeoff.
  • Assist in converting the estimate to a control budget. Assist in set up of job files.
  • Coordinate ad review submittals.
  • Assist engineering staff in procuring material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Manage quantities and perform quantity takeoffs as required.
  • Procure / schedule subcontractors and materials.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1-3 years’ recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience (prefer a prior internship with a heavy civil contractor) 
  • Medium to Large project experience ($10M+) is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
