Contracted Student Intern - Child, Youth & Family

The Department of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Student Intern who will support its Child, Youth and Family Division in Central Office Boston. The intern will work with our Young Adult Peer Coordinator to expand the Social Media presence of our Transition Age Youth and Young Adult (YA) engagement effort, especially to underrepresented communities.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop original social media content to reach YA around the state with positive messaging around mental health and wellness
  • Research current trends in YA mental health to be reflected in content development
  • Focus on engagement of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) as well as LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer/Questioning) YA who have faced barriers accessing services and supports from mental health systems
  • Assist with coordination of Statewide Young Adult Council meetings and activities
  • Other duties as assigned
This internship opportunity is for an undergraduate student who must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited College or University.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the mental health system.
  • Skills in social media content development for a variety of platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok) and website platforms, e.g. Wordpress
  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Period of Service: May 31, 2022 through September 2, 2022

Additional Information:
  • Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.
  • All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit.
  • The salary for this position is $17 an hour.
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
