Senior Tax Accountant

KI is seeking an experienced & highly motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our Finance team and oversee its sales & use tax function. The team takes pride in its culture of trust, communication, partnership, continuous improvement and personal & professional development and is seeking a like-minded individual.

In this role, special emphasis will be placed on performing research and interpreting multi-state laws, preparation of and the timely filing of applicable returns, and the development of company information systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Frequent interaction with sales leadership, sales support personnel and accounts payable are key to success.

Responsibilities:
 
State Sales & Use Tax Law Compliance
  • Study and monitor sales tax law and regulation in all states.
  • Support KI's sales function by researching and responding to transactional questions & issues, including contract and bid review.
  • Ensure receipt and maintenance of resale or other exemption certificates.
  • Maintain/improve ERP system programming for sales tax module.
  • File monthly, quarterly, or annual returns for each state where KI is registered.
  • Communicate with and train necessary departments on their responsibilities to support sales & use tax compliance.
  • Respond to requests during all sales & use tax audits or appeals by various state auditors.
Financial Report Preparation Support
  • Prepare requested annual financial audit work papers regarding Krueger International, Inc. and it subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and enter required monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries.
  • Assist in completion of income tax filings. 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales & use tax reporting experience in a multi-state environment
  • Accounting experience in manufacturing a plus
  • CPA credential a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and computer skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with query tools required
  • Self-motivated & deadline-oriented
  • Excellent attention to detail
