Finance Internships – Fall 2022

Responsibilities
Fall 2022 Internship Program: 

  • Applications Close: June 17, 2022 at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – don't delay! 
  • Program Dates: September 19 – December 9, 2022* 
  • *Some opportunities listed may offer an extended internship experience which will span the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, from September 2022 – April 2023. 
  • Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 
 
Virtual Opportunities: 
  • Corporate Sourcing: This team is looking to welcome an intern to the group who can offer a fresh perspective and propose innovative solutions across the various areas of the procurement organization. Tasks would include reviewing Statements of Work to ensure for compliance and internal processing, developing cost-saving initiatives, and researching processes and systems, competitive analyses, and global economic conditions. For this department, there might be an opportunity for students to participate throughout the entirety of the academic year (Fall and Spring Internship Programs). You will be asked to confirm your interest and availability if selected to participate in the interview process. 
 
  • Television Studios Production Finance: Intern will receive exposure to budgets, payroll, deals, cost reports, invoices, ownership of digital records keeping process for our shows, etc. Exciting projects this team is currently working on are Brave New World, Umbrella Academy, Dare Me, and The Magicians! 
 
  • Universal Filmed Entertainment Group: This division has finance internship opportunities available with: Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Global Finance, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment FP&A, and Universal Pictures Film Finance. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: improving accuracy and efficiency of monthly forecasting process, creating new financial models and trackers, day-to-day operations – financial consolidation, territory forecasting calls, submitting corporate financials, and assisting in regression refresh.  

In-Person Opportunities: 

Must be available to work from New York, NY to be considered for the below opportunities 
  • Ad Sales: Interns in the finance department will support the Ad Sales team by completing sales reporting and metrics analyses on a weekly and monthly basis. They will have exposure to the budgeting process and work heavily in Excel. 
 
  • Corporate Strategy: Interns will have the opportunity to work across multiple businesses within NBCUniversal (Film & Television Studios, Television & Direct-to-Consumer Entertainment, News & Sports, Telemundo, Fandango, Consumer Products, and Parks). This unique position will provide access to high-level strategic decision-making in the fast-moving and ever-evolving world of media & entertainment. Tasks include financial analyses and modeling, research related to intellectual property, and preparing business plans for growth initiatives . 

 Must be available to work from Orlando, FL to be considered for the below opportunity    
  • NBC Sports Next: The FP&A team is responsible for budget creation, communication, and management across GolfNow and SportsEngine. They also support ad hoc financial analysis, manage communication of financials to internal stakeholders and NBC Sports HQ, manage and track headcount, and in general, work closely with all departments within the businesses.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications 

• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program. 

• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal. 

• If selected for a virtual internship, must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked. 

• If selected for an in-person internship, must be willing to work in the designated city and state as mentioned in the job responsibilities section.


Additional Job Requirements 

• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment. 

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite. 

• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Desired Characteristics
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 

• Passion for media and entertainment 

• An affinity for numbers, data, and analysis 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including: vlookups, pivot tables, and financial modeling is a plus 

• Strong comfort level working with numbers and data with an ability to identify and analyze patterns and anomalies 

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are a plus 

• Excellent verbal and written communication 

• Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement
