Research Technician, CRISPR/Lab Administration - Marraffini Lab

We are seeking an energetic and well-organized research and administrative-focused Research Technician to support Dr. Luciano Marraffini’s Lab at The Rockefeller University. The Marraffini Lab studies how CRISPR-Cas systems protect bacteria and archaea against infection by viruses and other pathogens. The team uses molecular genetic techniques to investigate the mechanisms behind these prokaryotic immune systems. In particular, they are focused on how snippets of a pathogen’s DNA are captured and integrated into the bacterial genome to create a memory of an infection. The team is also characterizing and comparing the different subtypes of CRISPR-Cas systems – few of which have been studied in detail – with the goal of better understanding the evolutionary significance of this diversity. More information about the lab can be found on their website.

This position sits at the intersection of science and administration – we are targeting candidates with an interest and background in benchwork, as well as an aptitude and passion for lab administration. This role will provide the opportunity to have a direct impact on the science being conducted in the lab, through careful and thorough management of lab resources and a keen eye for process improvement.
