Research Scientist III

Group K Diagnostics (GKD) is a startup based in Philadelphia, PA focused, since its inception in 2017, on building first-in-class diagnostic solutions that will revolutionize patient healthcare. As we have expanded the application of our patented medical device platform, our company has grown. We are a team of innovators dedicated to bringing the best point-of-care tests to the global community through the development of new technologies to meet persisting and evolving needs for actionable diagnostic information.
 
We are currently seeking a Scientist to join our product development team. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Design, develop, and test paper-based molecular microfluidics in vitro diagnostic devices for infectious disease targets
  • Create and implement protocols and SOPs
  • Perform experiments in a regulated BSL-2 environment using GLP-compliant processes to support pre-clinical and clinical studies
  • Work independently with a range of biological specimens for multiple projects
  • Document experiments, analyze data, and report conclusions
  • Present data regularly at team meetings
  • Keep up-to-date with literature in the field and have a proactive, innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Work cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, and software team
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
 
Requirements:
 
  • PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry/bioengineering or related field with significant molecular laboratory experience
  • Minimum 4 years academic or industrial experience in molecular assay development including optimization, data analytics, interpretation, and technical reporting
  • Bench-level working knowledge of design of PCR, LAMP, and other molecular reaction-based testing
  • Experience in design of experiments and data warehouse methodologies and microfluidics preferred
  • Experience working in BSL-2 laboratories following GLP and aseptic techniques
  • Experience designing and reporting validation studies for FDA submission a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, statistical software, Google Scholar and other external resources for scientific information
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication

Benefits and compensation

$76,000-$100,000
