Ranch Wildlife & Fisheries Management and Hunting Operations Internship

Job Description:
Interns will assist in ranch and wildlife maintenance and improvements program. The main habitat focus is on wetlands management for waterfowl, and waterfowl hunting.  Additional game animal focus for habitat: mule deer, antelope, elk, and quail.

This position requires relocation to Lookout Ranch, located in NE California for the Summer. Housing will be provided as part of the Internship.

Duties include but not limited to:
·      Planting food plots
·      Locating and eliminating predators
·      Managing and improving water impound areas for waterfowl habitat.
·      Constructing, placing, and maintaining Wood Duck nest boxes
·      Feeding: fish feeders and feeding for upland game birds.
·      Habitat management: assisting in wetlands water management, prescribed burning, brush management, and herbicide treatment for thistle.
·      Fisheries management: stocking, feeding and water treatment.
·      Help with working cows and grazing management.
·      Fencing repairs
·      Equipment operation and maintenance assistance as related to the above
·      Additional duties to be assigned by Manager
 
Qualifications:

Education:
·      Enrolled in a 4-year accredited program and completed freshman year requirement
·      Preferred Wildlife and Fisheries Science major
·      Ability to fluently read and write English, accurately perform intermediate mathematical functions

Physical Demands:
·      Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee will be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach using feet, legs, back, arms and hands as well as talk and hear. The employee will be required to work at a personal computer and talk on the phone for extended periods of time
·      Must possess the ability to detect auditory and/or visual alarms and be available to work extended/flexible hours and weekends as needed.
Salary and Benefits:
·      $1,600/month + housing to be provided as part of Internship program
·      Training and hands-on experience with equipment and processes used in Ranch industry
