The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Level Systems Engineer to support the Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Sustainment Programs. This position will be located in Oklahoma City, OK.
Candidates will be expected to reside in the local area but telecommuting will be authorized as the business allows. There may be some off-hour support required to engage with customers and/or operators directly.
This position will provide leadership to one of the AEW&C Sustainment programs, which provides continued operational support of the AEW&C aircraft to our current international customers from Australia, Korea and Turkey. We anticipate a new contract from the United Kingdom to sustain their AEW&C fleet soon.  This position will directly support Program Managers and Chief Engineers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position will consist of sustainment systems engineering activities to enable the continued safe, airworthy and mission capable flight operations of the AEW&C international fleets.  

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:    
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
  • Coordinates with engineering functions to define requirements and other specialty engineering groups.
  • Leads in developing the planning, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and sustainment readiness assessment processes
  • Lead and coordinate requirement, design and/or development revision and changes to formal change boards.
  • Collaborating with international partners/customers
  • Support in development of modifications to meet operational and functional requirements
  • Mentoring

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry or other technical degree
  • 10+ years or more experience in aircraft and associated subsystems
  • Great communications and writing skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams at multiple organizational levels in dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills; ability to work in agile, flexible team environment
  • Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with system development of mission systems and/or aircraft systems
  • Strong Written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff
  • Prior experience with suppliers
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment
  • Working knowledge of FAA certification and airworthiness requirements is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance/sustainment

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
