Support Service Coordinator I

Salary: $3,420 - $4,680 per month

Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Under direction, coordinates the activities of staff assigned to the food service area at Kiley Developmental Center; maintains inventories, completes and maintains records and reports, and ensures a safe, clean work area. Serves as lead worker to lower level staff.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Serves as designated lead worker to lower level staff; assigns and reviews work; provides guidance and training to assigned staff; advises immediate supervisor regarding performance of staff.
  • Conducts and maintains inventories to ensure adequate supply, informs supervisor of surplus foods; evaluates usage patterns; calculates and determines what food items need to be pulled from the freezer, how much and what consumption dates.
  • Packs food boxes; lifts, loads and drives delivery truck; checks packing slips for accuracy of contents and quality of produce; writes food substitutions on packing slips; ensures utensils for bag lunch preparation; resolves delivery problems by communicating with home staff; refers complex issues to immediate supervisor.
  • Enforces sanitation policy and procedures ensuring a clean and safe food service area; checks freezer doors, fans and alarms to ensure proper operation; ensures proper storage and rotation of foods.
  • Completes and maintains records and reports, i.e. quality control records, packing slips, requisitions, etc., updates computerized nutritional supplements, etc.
  • Provides on-the-job and in-service training to Dietary staff to increase staff knowledge, skills, and efficiency. Assists in resolving disputes between food services, home staff, dieticians, etc.; serves as a back up to the Dietary Manager.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School.
  • Requires two years of experience, such as could be gained at the Support Service Provider level in one of the support service functional areas to which assigned.
  • Requires possession of a valid Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
 
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
