Actuarial Analyst, Risk Score - IntelliScript

Role Description
The Actuarial Analyst will play an important role in designing and creating proof of concept studies for a variety of Milliman IntelliScript tools. The analyst will develop deep knowledge of the tools and will use their creativity to combine this knowledge with technical skills to showcase the value of the tools. The role’s responsibilities will include designing and preparing studies, leading internal discussions and result reviews, and playing an important role in crafting the messaging to clients. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy to work independently and collaboratively with strong trust and communication among the team, and the opportunity to participate in IntelliScript’s actuarial exam program.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to design proof of concept studies that showcase the value derived from Milliman IntelliScript tools.
  • Use technology such as SQL. Excel, to demonstrate the value of Milliman’s tools in the study process.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and collaborate with team members across the business
  • Creative problem-solving using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to organize and analyze information
  • Communicate results in well written reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner
  • Anticipate and address questions that will arise during business review and client delivery
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to determine how to complete assigned projects, subject to peer review

Professional Qualifications
  • 2 or more successfully completed actuarial exams (demonstrated exam success)
  • 2+ years of actuarial work experience
  • Experience with SQL, R, VBA or other querying or programming language(s)
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)

Preferred (Not Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • Continued education, degree, certification(s), and/or professional training in any of the following: economics, business, math, statistics, computer science, information systems
  • Experience in software-as-a-service and/or insurance underwriting industry
  • Experience with project management software
