Actuarial Analyst, Irix - IntelliScript

Role Description
As part of Milliman, IntelliScript is a cutting-edge software unit that specializes in risk management solutions for the insurance industry. Combining industry-leading expertise with dedicated customer service, we bring our clients innovative solutions. The Milliman IntelliScript suite of software products provides intelligent analysis of prescription histories and other medical data. Offering tremendous ROI, our proprietary Irix® system provides our clients with intelligent analysis of data. Irix enables life and health insurance underwriters to make better overall decisions by generating comprehensive, customized reports that reduce the time needed for risk analysis.

The Actuarial Analyst will play an important role in supporting day-today activities, collaborating with internal teams, and Irix processes such as rule changes and development. This individual is responsible for real projects with proven technology as well as promoting any ideas for future growth and development of the Irix system. The role’s responsibilities will include proposing, researching, and providing in-depth analysis to drive business decisions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy to work independently with strong trust and communication among the team, and the opportunity to participate in IntelliScript’s actuarial exam program.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with colleagues and clients to propose/determine coding needs, implement customizations, and create release deliverables
  • Learn how to use InRule (rules engine software), document well-researched specs, and implement coding with the utmost accuracy
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and collaborate with team members across the business
  • Drive Irix research projects from start to finish by working with other IntelliScript teams and presenting proposals for system and process changes within the Irix system
  • Proactively move issues to resolution
  • Balance numerous projects/tasks with varying deadlines and difficulty without sacrificing quality of work
  • Active communication with manager and team members involving projects and overlapping responsibilities
  • Proactively communicate and drive ideas for future growth and change

Professional Qualifications                                                                
  • 2 or more successfully completed actuarial exams (demonstrated exam success)
  • 1 or more completed internships, and/or 1 or more years of work experience, in the actuarial profession
  • Experience with SQL, R, VBA or other querying or programming language(s)
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)

Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • Continued education, degree, certification(s), and/or professional training in any of the following: economics, business, math, statistics, computer science, information systems
  • Experience in software-as-a-service and/or insurance underwriting industry
  • Experience with project management software
