Communications Administrative Specialist

The Communications Office is responsible for promoting the Law School in every way, including all print and digital communications of the Law School. The Communications Office produces several print publications, manages the web and social media presence of the Law School, handles event communications and email templates, works with digital and print signage, and collaborates with faculty and staff around the Law School on public relations, media relations, and issues management. A friendly team with a very active portfolio, the Communications Office seeks team members who are passionate about communications and customer service, interested in stretching to learn new skills, always willing to help out, and possessing strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Job Summary
The Communications Administrative Specialist is part of the Communications Office and reports to the Associate Dean for Communications. The Communications Office manages all communications of the Law School, including materials for the Admissions office, the Dean of Students, Alumni Relations, Development, and the Office of Career Services, as well as numerous faculty projects and conferences and work for student groups. The Communications Office strives to take on any project needed by anyone in the Law School community, to provide advice on successful realization of the project, and to manage it excellently to completion.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the day-to-day administrative needs of the Communications Office and its staff, including data entry, maintenance of systems, digital asset management, financial processing, office management, project management of several types of communications materials (both print and electronic).
  • Beginner to intermediate graphic design work.
  • Manages event communications.
  • Works with other members of the Communications staff to provide excellent customer service to all parts of the Law School requiring assistance with print and electronic communications.
  • Potential opportunity for writing assignments if other work is successful and skill is shown.
  • Solves a range of straightforward problems, as work assignments are difficult and broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Continues to build higher level knowledge of the University, processes and customers.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent performance of administrative responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of higher education environment a plus.
  • Substantial responsibility and creative development will be available to those who prove themselves.
