Assistant Director of Prospect Research


 
The Prospect Research Team at Virginia Tech provides strategic intelligence to Advancement partners working to reach fundraising, participation, and engagement goals. In a division striving for continuous program innovation, the team pursues dynamic solutions to challenges and opportunities that transpire in a changing philanthropic landscape.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research, the Assistant Director of Prospect Research is a senior member of the team responsible for partnering with Advancement colleagues to provide prospect identification, research, and advisor services. The Assistant Director will provide mentorship to the Research team and oversight of principal
gift research strategy and execution. This position will work closely with the Associate Director of Prospect Research to organize and track research operations and reporting. The Assistant Director will implement and manage critical proactive projects to influence division and campaign goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Performing research on constituents using advanced techniques and various research tools to determine financial capacities, philanthropic interests, and relationships to the university, with a special focus on principal gift prospects and those with a high net worth
·       Overseeing/processing vendor wealth screenings to identify and prioritize prospects
·       Growing the prospect pipeline by identifying new prospects and disseminating actionable information to Advancement partners
·       Developing timely prospect portfolios and assignment recommendations
·       Mentoring and guiding team on industry trends, best practices, innovative research tools, and advanced valuation methodology
·       Developing research related reports, charts, presentations, and fundraising analytics
·       Participating in the onboarding/training for employees and gift officer transition process as needed
·       Proactively improving and maintaining the accuracy and breadth of information available on constituents within the CRM database
·       Assessing priorities and needs, manage own schedule, monitor progress and re-prioritize as necessary; complete work on time with minimal supervision
·       This staff member acts as the go-to person in absence of the Associate Director
·       Conducting ad hoc projects and requests as needed
