Traffic Engineer 2

Overall Responsibility:
A Traffic Engineer 2 supports the Division/Project Manager in the preparation of quality traffic engineering studies and construction plans for various public and private clients. Must be self-motivated individual that works well in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to apply critical thinking skills to make independent engineering judgements and design decisions. 
Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Prepare/Review construction plans for the installation of traffic signal and other traffic control systems that meet the requirements of the Georgia Department of Transportation and/or the local jurisdiction.
  • Prepare/Review traffic engineering studies that support the requirements of projects with state and local agencies and the private development sector. 
  • Must have an understanding of traffic engineering principles and industry practices, apply critical thinking skills, analyze traffic data and conditions, evaluate viable alternatives and determine optimal recommendations to satisfy the clients’ needs. (i.e. Traffic Impact Study, Signal Warrant Study, Traffic Engineering Reports, etc.)
  • Develop traffic simulation models in Synchro and Vissim for use in analyzing traffic data and conditions of the roadway network.
  • Build and maintain relationships with private developers and local & state permitting agencies.
  • Communicate directly and effectively with clients from proposal to permit
  • Proficient technical writing skills in preparing Studies, Reports, Emails, Etc.
