Ignite Leadership Rotational Program - IT Track

A talented and diversified IT department provides great value to the organization and its stakeholders. Due to the continual growth of our energy generation business, NextEra Energy is recruiting IT professionals at the beginning of their careers with the aim of developing them into our future leaders. 
 
This two-year leadership development rotational program will expose the Rotation Associate to the critical functions in both the corporate operations of electricity-generating facilities and the most exciting facets of the growing renewable energy industry. Computer Science or IT related degree preferred. The new class will start in June 2019.  Successful candidates will interact with experts in various disciplines while learning technical skills in roles such as:
  • Agile Scrum Team
  • Cloud Computing
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Lake / Data Analytics: database design and structure
  • Digital Transformation / Analytics
  • IT Programmer Analyst
  • Web and dashboard design, data visualization, end user experience
 
After two years and four rotations, graduates of the Ignite Leadership Program will be well-positioned for a successful career in NextEra Energy’s IT Organization supporting business units such as Renewable Energy Development (Wind, Solar, Battery), Business Management, Engineering & Construction, Power Generation, Power Marketing, Power Delivery, Customer Service and others.
 
Under the supervision of a trained management team, the candidate will:
  • Learn and understand the business, key operational drivers, technology issues and related market forces for the assigned functional area
  • Demonstrate a strong drive to succeed, take ownership of assigned tasks and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Develop and integrate new or existing applications into the technical infrastructure and business processes
  • Analyze business processes, gather requirements, design, develop, test, debug and implement applications and systems
  • Maintain and/or enhance existing or new systems to ensure reliability and efficiency
  • Build strong working relationships across the organization to ensure the proper business partner support in assigned functional areas
  • Execute special projects (e.g., software implementations, Six Sigma projects, Agile projects)
