PLC Field Engineer
Overview of the Role:
KNAPP is looking for a Controls/Automation PLC field engineer to work in the material handling industry. The candidate is responsible for implementing automated shuttle systems within warehouse distribution centers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of the PLC program based on project needs in the office interfacing with planning, tooling and design departments
- Writing PLC program by putting together protocols and by using, implementing and maintaining PLC function blocks (written in SCL)
- Debugging and testing PLC and HMI code
- Perform test plans at Client site
- Adjust and troubleshoot I/Os on PROFI or ASIBUS, on frequency converters and industrial electrical equipment (optical sensors, scanners, RFID readers)
- Support during startup and ramp-up at Client site
- Maintaining and providing final electrical schematics to documentation department
Candidate Profile:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics / Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Technology
- Technical requirements
- Knowledge of programming control systems; SCL preferred
- Text-based programming skills (e.g. C, C++, Java, Pascal, ...)
- Ability to read and write electrical schematics
- Willingness to travel (domestic)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally
Job Location
- Various domestic locations (travel up to 80% per year)
Shift Schedule:
- While in office: 40 hrs per week;
- While at job site: 60 hrs per week (10 hours a day Mo-Sat).
