Responsibilites

 

Entry Level Engineering Rotational Program

This entry-level engineering role is designed to develop future technical and leadership talent for Plant Engineering and partner organizations at Eastman’s Kingsport site. This role participates in a three-year structured onboarding and development program that builds foundational technical competency, interpersonal development, organizational awareness, and prepares engineers for long-term career placement across multiple engineering and operational disciplines. The role is designed such that the individual will complete three distinct job rotations.

The program bridges the gap between initial onboarding and full role readiness by combining formal training, hands-on experience, and cross-functional exposure. Upon completion of the program, the individual will have the opportunity to apply for other roles or be placed based on business need.

Potential Placements:

 

Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer - Plant Engineering

  • Lead in the design, installation, maintenance, and ongoing improvements of electrical systems in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support for plant manufacturing and maintenance in a multidisciplinary team-oriented environment.
  • Electrical equipment and instrument specification, capital project support, engineering studies and technical field support.
  • Requires a variety of electrical engineering skills, including all or some of the following: process instrumentation, process control, safety systems, power distribution, grounding, lighting, motors, analyzers, and electrical system design.
  • Examples of tasks include specification and designing of circuits for measurement for process variables (flow, temperature, pressure and level), motors and motor control circuits, elementary wiring diagrams, PLC, process and safety interlock design, and more

 

Control Systems Engineer - Plant Engineering

  • Provide industrial control systems support for plant operations and global manufacturing sites
  • Design and implement automation using PLC and DCS systems
  • Work on system upgrades, networking, operator interfaces, and capital projects
  • Develop control logic (continuous, batch, sequencing, and safety shutdown systems)
  • Perform basic software development (e.g., Visual Basic, C/C++)
  • Specify systems, estimate costs, and support installation, startup, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure systems are safe, secure, and reliable

 

Power Systems Engineer - Process Engineering

  • Opportunity to specialize in power systems, including generation, medium and low voltage substations, relaying, intrinsically safe equipment, medium voltage motors, and various grounding systems.
  • Lead specification and design of industrial power systems
  • Use power system modeling software to analyze arc flash, load flow, and system reliability
  • Troubleshoot power issues and improve power quality
  • Support capital projects from scope definition to startup
  • Participate in risk, reliability, and vulnerability assessments
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards

 

Supplemental Rotations

  • Placement determined by business need
  • May include working at other Eastman sites, targeted efforts to improve plant reliability, support maintenance turnarounds, or drive efforts that are mission-critical to company

 

 

Qualifications

 

Desired Skills, Attributes, Experience, and Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • This position is for an entry-level Electrical Engineer. Less than 2 years of post-graduate experience is preferred.
