About VivoSphere
VivoSphere is a biotechnology startup developing advanced 3D tissue-engineered models for drug discovery and biomedical research. Our technologies create physiologically relevant human tissue models that improve the predictive power of preclinical drug testing and accelerate therapeutic development.
We are seeking a highly motivated undergraduate engineering intern to support the development of a microfluidic platform used for 3D tissue model production and biomedical applications. This role offers hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, and testing biomedical devices in a fast-paced startup environment.
Intern Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components including parts, housings, and mechanisms for microfluidic systems
- Develop and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies
- Assist with prototyping, fabrication, and device assembly
- Test, validate, and iterate on mechanical and electrical subsystems
- Support production and assembly of existing microfluidic systems
- Document design iterations and experimental results
- Interns may work with CAD software, 3D printers, prototyping tools, and microfluidic device components.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping
- Familiarity with machining or fabrication techniques
- Experience designing or analyzing mechanical or electrical components
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Experience working in a makerspace, machine shop, or prototyping lab
- Familiarity with user-centered or product-oriented design processes
Job Details
- Job Type: part-time, on-site in Auburn, AL
- Expected Hours: ~10 hours per week
- Compensation: commensurate with relevant experience
- Start Date: Spring 2026, continuation through 2026-2027 school year
