Mechanical Engineering Intern - Spring 2026

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work closely with the engineering team to support the design, development, and testing of our carbon capture and energy system. This role is ideal for a student who is excited about clean energy, climate technology, and hands-on engineering.

You’ll gain practical experience in:

  • Translating functional requirements into design specifications.
  • Performing first-order engineering calculations (thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, material selection).
  • Assisting with mechanical and electrical design of system components.
  • Supporting the build, integration, and testing of prototypes.
  • Documenting results, analyzing test data, and contributing to system optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to define and refine system requirements.
  • Develop and review CAD models, schematics, and basic system layouts.
  • Conduct analytical calculations to support design decisions.
  • Assist in component selection and supplier research.
  • Participate in hands-on prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and testing.
  • Collect and analyze performance data to validate designs.
  • Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a B.S.  in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Familiarity with basic electrical systems and sensors is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, lab testing, or fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to work in a fast-paced, startup environment.

What You’ll Gain

  • Firsthand experience in the product development lifecycle: from requirements and calculations to building and testing.
  • Exposure to carbon capture technologies, power generation, and climate tech innovation.
  • Mentorship from a cross-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Opportunity to make a real-world impact in advancing clean energy solutions.
