About the Opportunity
We are actively recruiting May 2026 graduates for a range of full-time positions in our new state-of-the-art R&D facility in Science Square Atlanta. These roles include:
Product Designers – Develop and validate new battery designs, form factors and device integration concepts
Process Designers – Engineer and optimize battery manufacturing processes
Materials Developers – Create and evaluate new materials for electrochemical systems
Product Researchers – Collaborate with commercial and technical partners to tailor product designs and identify new product opportunities.
Packaging Engineer - responsible for developing and implementing innovative packaging solutions that support both retail and business-to-business distribution. This role focuses on optimizing packaging for cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, sustainability, and manufacturability. The engineer collaborates with research and development and manufacturing teams to ensure product-packaging compatibility and production feasibility while meeting the needs of the business. Additional responsibilities include leading initiatives to reduce costs related to materials, labor, and logistics, managing supplier relationships for component design and prototyping, supporting financial assessments, and establishing packaging specifications and standards. The engineer also monitors consumer feedback and drives continuous improvement efforts.

Typical Responsibilities for Entry-Level Engineers & Scientists
Laboratory Work & Experimental Design
• Conduct lab-based experiments related to battery materials, components, or processes
• Support electrochemical testing, materials analysis, and prototype fabrication
• Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DoEs) to screen new materials or design parameters
• Analyze data using tools like Excel, Python, and JMP to extract key insights
Product & Process Development
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams to design and optimize new battery architectures
• Design pilot-scale trials and develop manufacturing process optimization
• Contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts
• Participate in product reliability, performance, and safety assessments
Materials Development
• Explore technology trends in battery materials for application into Duracell’s portfolio of batteries
• Characterization, fundamental understanding and modeling of new material properties, composition, and functionality
• Lead assessment of new material technologies across our multifunctional technical organization
• Collaborate with external partners on development, qualification, and scale up of new material technologies
Documentation & Reporting
• Document internal reports, presentations, and data packages for stakeholders
• Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, UN38.3)
Collaboration & Communication
• Present your technical findings in team meetings and design reviews
• Work closely with senior scientists and engineers to translate project goals into actionable tasks
• Engage with suppliers, academic partners, or contract labs to support technical deliverables
• Take part in training and development opportunities as part of your onboarding and ongoing growth
Qualifications
• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree in a relevant technical field by May 2026
• Strong academic background and hands-on experience in lab or project-based settings
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
• Passion for hands-on innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning
