
Engineering Co-Op
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Summary:
The ideal candidate is passionate about, and is looking for a career in, aviation. They also have a strong comprehension of engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them to solve real-world problems. They are highly motivated, competitive, and comfortable working both independently and on a team. Engineering fundamentals and problem solving skills will be used to troubleshoot, design, analyze, and repair aircraft components, tooling, and test systems.
Duties:
Design repairs and modifications to aircraft components (e.g. hydraulic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical, high-speed rotating, and engine accessories)
Produce 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and repair/modification work instructions
Perform stress analyses to ensure structural integrity of repaired components
Write engineering reports to substantiation the design complies with applicable FAA regulations
Assist in aircraft component failure investigations and warranty determinations
Provide liaison technical support to other departments
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program in an engineering discipline (mechanical or aerospace required)
Strong understanding of engineering mechanics (metallic material properties, free body diagrams, stress analysis methods, etc)
Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook proficiency is a plus
Experience with Solid Edge and/or Solid Works 3D CAD is a plus
Aviation experience is a plus
